Porvoo, Finland —

Recently, Suomi Khabar published an article covering the story of a young Nepali immigrant girl in Finland who had publicly shared her experience of alleged abuse by her own father.

The story quickly drew enormous attention. Within hours of publication, it reached over 50,000 views across all social media, and about 5,000 readers on the article in our website. The post also received hundreds of reactions, comments, and messages across our platforms.

While many readers expressed strong support and empathy for the survivor, others questioned whether publishing the story was appropriate while the matter was still under investigation. The comment sections soon became highly active, with ongoing debates over privacy, sensitivity, and journalistic responsibility.

During this time, our team also began receiving threats and inquiries through comments, direct messages, emails, and even phone calls. Among the inquiries was one from Manoj K. Bhusal, Editor-in-Chief of Nepalilainen, a Nepali-language news provider in Finland, who reached out to request further clarification about the case.

Shortly after the article’s publication, the Finnish–Nepalese Society (Suomalais–Nepalilainen Yhdistys) also issued a public statement in Nepali acknowledging awareness of our report. The society stated that one of its officials connected to the story had resigned from their position and that, as the case is under police consideration, the organization would not comment further until investigations conclude. The society reaffirmed its stance against all forms of violence and abuse.

Official notice issued by the Finnish-Nepalese Society in response to our article.

The article was also noticed beyond the Nepali community — Xavier Bambu Locquet Vandenberghe, a performer at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, shared it publicly, reflecting the level of public interest the story generated.

Xavier Bambu Locquet Vandenberghe shared our article on his Facebook account on October 20, 2025.

However, to clarify, this attention or criticism is not why we removed the article. Nor was the story proven false.

Our decision to delete and unpublish the content was made solely out of respect for Finnish law and official instruction. Since the case remains unsettled and currently under judicial process, Finnish authorities requested that we remove all materials that could identify the victim or the alleged abuser until an official verdict is reached.

In accordance with media ethics and Finnish legal regulations concerning ongoing criminal cases, Suomi Khabar has therefore decided to unpublish the article and remove any associated posts, images, or names from all our social media platforms.

We remain deeply committed to responsible journalism, justice, and community awareness. While we stand by the importance of giving survivors a voice, we also respect the integrity of Finland’s legal process and the privacy of everyone involved.

Thank you for understanding and supporting our work.

Editor’s Note:

The case mentioned above remains under active investigation. Suomi Khabar will not make any further comments or updates until Finnish authorities officially conclude the matter. Our platform stands firmly against all forms of violence, abuse, and intimidation, and we continue to support ethical journalism guided by truth, empathy, and law.
